Find your SM-R model number and get the exact replacement part you need
Samsung has released a lot of Galaxy Buds generations — and the cases and buds between them are not interchangeable. A Galaxy Buds2 Pro case will not charge Galaxy Buds3 Pro earbuds, even though they look similar at a glance.
Before you order anything, confirm your exact model. It takes about 30 seconds using the Galaxy Wearable app, the label inside your case, or the SM-R number printed on the bud itself.
How to identify your Galaxy Buds model
Find your model via the Galaxy Wearable app
1
Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your Android phone (install it from the Play Store if you don't have it).
2
Make sure your Galaxy Buds are connected and in their case — or in your ears with the case nearby.
3
Tap About headphones (or "About earbuds") at the bottom of the main screen.
4
The Model number (e.g., SM-R510) appears in the device info. That's your identifier — match it to a card below.
Find your model on the case interior label
1
Open the charging case lid fully.
2
Look on the inside of the case — usually on the inner lid or the inside bottom wall. There is a small printed label.
3
Find the line that reads Model: SM-R___. That's your case model number. Match it to a card below.
4
The case model and the earbud model are part of the same generation — if you have the case number, you have enough to order the right parts.
Find the model number printed on the bud
1
Remove one earbud from the case and hold it under good light — natural light or a phone flashlight works well.
2
Look for very small printed text on the body of the bud, typically near the stem or on the flat inner face that sits in the case.
3
You'll see an SM-R number (e.g., SM-R510) along with a serial number. The SM-R number is what you need.
4
The left and right buds in a pair share the same SM-R base number — the suffix (N for left, U for right, or similar) indicates which side it is.
Find your model on the original box
1
Locate the original retail box your Galaxy Buds came in.
2
Look at the barcode label on the bottom or side of the box. The model number appears as SM-R___.
3
The box may also show the full product name (e.g., "Galaxy Buds2 Pro") — use that plus the SM-R number together to confirm your generation.
⚠️ Don't mix generations — parts are not cross-compatible
Galaxy Buds cases and earbuds only work with their own generation. A Galaxy Buds Pro case (SM-R190) will not charge Galaxy Buds2 Pro buds (SM-R510), even though they look similar.
Always confirm your SM-R number before ordering. When in doubt, use the Galaxy Wearable app — it's the fastest and most reliable method.
