1. Place both AirPods in the charging case and charge for 1 hour.
2. Open the lid – light should flash amber.
3. Hold the setup button 15–30 seconds until white light flashes.
4. Hold the open case near your unlocked iPhone and select “Connect.”

The first time I ordered and it came in. It was the wrong generation. The return process was simple and they exchanged it for me for the correct one. The exchange came in today and when I go to pair it...gen 1 again. Not sure what's going on with these folks.
